For whatever it's worth to the new Alanon order - I've been in the PROGRAM - not just the fellowship - since 1990. When I look around today, I'm truly sad, and dismayed by what I see. I see a lot of group therapy at meetings today, instead of the practice of the principles as taught us by going through the process of the 12 steps with a good sponsor, who has a sponsor. I'm insane with self-righteousness. I'm insane with the notion that I can wrest satisfaction out of this life if only I manage better. I am abetted in this blindness by a world that doesn't CARE about my mental-illness; which compels me to go on with the INSANE assumption that I'll be OK if only other people would BEHAVE. I became so sick from these ridiculous beliefs that my only hope became the reliance on a Higher Power. I LACKED the Power to think rationally. So my only hope became the belief that only a Power greater than myself could restore me to sanity. But now, that honest awareness has been cut down. Too many people today can't make the admission of personal powerlessness.

Im an addict, too

I've been clean for 8 months. I can confidently say that AA was a big part of my recovery and what led me to find Jesus Christ. I wish you all the best in your journey. I truly believe we can have many identities in one life -time and not just drug addicts.

AA has turned into a new fancy pants bs deal. I’m not gonna share about drinking. We all know how to drink 😂. Or just don’t drink no matter what. God please help me not to drink. I’m helpless

I wonder if Peter M went through 'The Retreat'. They're 12 step based and they churn out a lot of sober drunks and addicts. And they're in Wayzata MN. I think I heard a talk where Peter mentioned being stuck in Wayzata in February, the coldest month in MN.

He is an awesome speaker....it reminded me that I have a DISEASE and my responsibility to keep myself sober.....it is a precious gift from God

I'm just over 3 years sober and I'm still struggling emotionally it's horrible I'm doing everything I've been asked to do by my sponser 4 face to face meetings a week so don't no where I'm going wrong 😢
